Day 2 · Session 3
Dynamic work instructions and real-time feedback
An instruction is dynamic when it reaches the learner at the point of need, in the form they can act on, and improves from what happens next.
CompletedFour properties of a dynamic instruction
01
At the point of need
Available at the bench, not only in the LMS.
02
Actionable
One step, one decision, one visible check.
03
Multi-modal
Text, image or short clip — same core content.
04
Versioned
An owner, a date and a route to improve it.
Rewrite for action
Static
- “Follow safe working procedures at all times.”
- A 12-page PDF read before the practical
Dynamic
- “Before striking an arc: check screen position, clamp earth, confirm extraction is running.”
- A three-photo card at the booth with a scan for the 40-second clip
Convert a static procedure
Context: TVET practical session, [module], [learner group], workshop environment. Task: Convert the procedure below into a dynamic work instruction card learners use at the workstation. Constraints: Maximum 8 steps; one action per step; plain language at [reading level]; no unexplained jargon. Evidence: For each step give the visible check that proves it was done, and the most common learner error. Output: A numbered card plus a short list of what to photograph or film. Flag any step that must be verified against local safety policy. Procedure: [paste your current procedure]

Value-adding work Waiting / queue
- Feedback that arrives after the next attempt has already happened is a report, not feedback.
- Short, specific and criterion-linked beats long and general.
- Collect the misconceptions — they are your next revision of the instruction.
Where AI helps here
Draft the alternative formats and reading levels, cluster recurring misconceptions from your notes, and suggest criterion-linked feedback phrasing. You still verify accuracy, local practice and tone before a learner sees it.
